Hello to all y’all. My name is Kerry and I am proud to say I’m an NB East Coaster; born, raised and rooted. You can find me on small hobby farm in the picturesque southeast cornor of New Brunswick. However; my beginnings were in the beautiful North Shore of NB. I am a homesteader wanna be trying to leave a small footprint. I will say that our history, slang, culture, traditions, lifestyle, people and all things coastal are what truly inspire me through life. “I absolutely love my east coast heritage and I love all slang words and sayings”. So talk slang to me!
My Slang Beginnings
My heritage is both Irish and Irish/Scottish but the Irish part is my big influencer. My family first emigrated to PEI (East Point) and NB(Waterford) from Kildare and Tipperary County, Ireland; in the eary 1700’s. My ancestry research tells me they were one of the earliest pioneer families homesteading in Rexton NB. They were shipbuilders and millwrights by trade and opportunity soon took them to the Gaspe Coast, Quebec. So this is my connection to the East Coast of Canada. Share yours with me. Just maybe our ancestors worked side by side?
The Ties that Bind
The nautical rope in our logo represents our connection to coastal living. The knot symbolizes the ties that bind and connect us from coast to coast. As East Coasters; we may journey far and wide and life might of taken some of us away from our coastal beginnings. But we all sure manage to connect up wherever we may roam to. Our slang connects us all! You know ……”Yer slang connects your gang”.
So you see; my mission here is about connectin’, gatherin’ and creatin’ a community of Slang lovers. And…to celebrate and reminisce about the old and the new slang sayings we all know so well! Tag along with me!
